The Ottley Music School was established in 1973, and offers private lessons and classes in just about all the orchestral and band instruments, as well as indigenous instruments, such as the steel drums of Trinidad and Tobago. Additional courses available include vocal training, composition, and organ. OMS also offers a keyboard-based pre-school class for children ages four to six, Music for Little Mozarts.

The school's summer camp is for kids ages 7 through 18 (with at least two years of instruction), and includes musical activities, singing, drama, ensemble playing, music theory, history, ear-training, regular book reading, and math.

Private lessons, pre-school classes, and other classes for children, adults, teenagers, and senior citizens are also offered in the summer. Some pre-school classes are available in the morning for parents and children together.

Registration for Summer Camp and Summer Lessons is during the months of January, February, and March. Registration for private lessons is anytime during the year.

Students, faculty, and local musicians can also participate in the community oriented OMS Jazz Band or the University Park Symphony Orchestra.
