Not to be confused with the
Palisades Park in Pacific Palisades, this
Palisades Park consists of 26 acres along the top of the bluffs in Santa Monica, with
unbeatable views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The path that runs the length of it is a popular morning walk. The park has no actual playground, but there are plenty of interesting and inviting sculptures and unusual trees for climbing dotted throughout the park, which runs from San Vicente at the north down to Broadway and the
Santa Monica Pier at the south. Features include a Senior Center at 1450 Ocean Avenue, a Visitors Center kiosk, a camera obscura, picnic areas, benches, a very pretty rose garden, shuffleboard courts (outside Senior Center), and three restrooms spread out throughout the park. The northern end of the park tends to be fairly restful and is popular with senior citizen's card games and Tai Chi classes. The southern end, near the Pier, tends to be much busier and more frequented by homeless people.
