about Parfet Prehistoric Preserve Triceratops Trail:

Triceratops Trail features a half-mile hiking trail, which leads through 68 million years of Colorado's pre-history.

Along the way there are footprints and other impressions left by dinosaurs, birds, mammals, plants, and even insects. In addition, it is possible to see how the landscape of this area has changed from a swampy habitat during the Age of Dinosaurs to a clay mine during the mid 1900's to a world-class golf course (Fossil Trace) today.

getting there:

Turn east off of 6th Avenue (Hwy 6) onto 19th Street in Golden. Parking is available by turning right just before the Stevinson Golden Ford on Jones Road. From the parking area, walk west (towards the mountains) until you reach the bike path that runs parallel to 6th Avenue (there is no vehicle traffic permitted on the bike path). Once you reach the bike path, walk south along the path until you reach the entry tent (approx. 1/3 mile). The trail to and around the area is approximately 1.25 miles round trip.
