Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) has 3,300 acres of groomers, bumps, bowls, powder, peaks, and parks. It was voted a top-ten resort in Ski and Skiing magazine's 2007/08 reader's polls. Transworld Snowboarding Magazine rates PCMR a "Best Terrain Park."
PCMR has
15 lifts serving 106 trails. The terrain at the resort is 17% beginner, 50% intermediate, and 33% advanced/expert.
A
ski and snowboard school caters to all abilities. Children must be toilet trained and at least three and a half years old to enroll. The resort's Kids Signature 5 program guarantees five children or less in each ski and snowboard lesson for those ages six to 14. Children in the program receive their choice of lunch from one of the on-mountain restaurants.
Guests can choose from
six different dining options, from coffee house, to deli, to gourmet. A unique dining experience is offered in a yurt at 8,700 feet.
The Snowed Inn Sleigh Company operates
horse-drawn sleigh rides from the base of the resort up to a mountain lodge where a chef prepares a
western-style gourmet meal, and serves it up family-style. While at the lodge, guests listen to entertainment before taking the sleigh ride back down the mountain. The whole experience lasts approximately two and a half hours; see the website for pricing. Departure times for the dinners are at 5:30pm, 6:30pm, and 7:30pm. Another option is to take a sleigh ride without the meal. The rides leave daily from the base of the resort at 5pm, last 25-30 minutes. All sleigh rides are by reservation only.
PCMR also owns and operates
Gorgoza Park, offering lift served
tubing and mini snowmobiles. Three lifts service three beginner and four advanced tubing lanes. The lanes are lit for night tubing. Children must be at least three years old to tube. A children's play area,
Fort Frosty, was added in 2006 for children ages six and under. Attractions at Fort Frosty include a tubing carousel and snow features designed for the youngest tubers. Rates are by ride or by hour; for details call 435.658.2648 or see website (
www.gorgozapark.com). Mini snowmobiles are especially designed for kids ages five to 12 (110 lb. weight limit). The cost for snowmobiling is $9 per six laps around an oval course. Gorgoza Park is located on I-80 between SLC and Park City; take the Jeremy Ranch exit (#141). All Resort Express shuttle service takes visitors between Gorgoza Park and PCMR. The park is open daily in the winter, conditions permitting.
Summer activities at the resort include
thrill rides such as the Alpine Slide, the ZipRider, and the Alpine Coaster. The mountain is also a popular spot for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Other summer attractions include a climbing wall, miniature golf, a human maze, and a kiddie amusement park.
Although largely considered a summer attraction, the resort's
Alpine Coaster continues to operate throughout the winter season, weather permitting. During the winter, the coaster hours are 12n-4pm daily, with extended hours during the holidays. Passengers must be at least 54" to ride; see the website for pricing.
