If the kids are dreaming of being the next Michelle Kwan or Scott Hamilton, there is no need for Pasadena-dwellers to look farther than their own
Pasadena Ice Skating Center.
The rink offers
figure skating lessons at all levels. The ice surface size is a non-standard 150 feet by 90 feet, but several informal competitions are hosted throughout the year all the same.
Hockey leagues for adults and children ages 16 and over meet at the rink, as do adult pick-up games and hockey lessons.
Public skating sessions are offered daily, including special "Cheapskate" sessions on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings. Check the
website for specific schedule details.
Both the ice and a party room are available for
birthday parties, which can include a lesson for an extra charge. There is a skating
pro shop on site, open seven days.
The rink is also available for
private rental and is a popular site for fans of
broomball, a game played like hockey with brooms and a tennis ball.
The rink can be a bit difficult to find, as signage is sparse. Visitors should head to
Pasadena Convention Center, which houses the rink.
