The Pasadena Playhouse - a beautiful Spanish Colonial-style theater with Mission elements - opened in 1925, and during its long history, it has provided the theatrical backdrop for actors such as Raymond Burr, Dustin Hoffman, and - more recently - Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett.
The theater regularly hosts seasons that feature Tony and Pulitzer Award-winning plays and participates in community outreach and artistic programs.
The Playhouse's Balcony Theatre was re-dedicated as The Carrie Hamilton Theatre in July, 2006 in honor of the daughter of actress Carol Burnett, who was a playwright before she died in 2002. The Carrie Hamilton Theatre hosts several children's theater events throughout the season.
