With a strong mission to bring theatre of the highest caliber to audiences in an increasingly complex world, the
People's Light and Theatre Company shines through with its family productions. The stagings are first-rate and the setting is beautiful with a restored farmhouse, perennial gardens, and a bistro to boot!
Seating on both the 300-seat Mainstage and the intimate Steinbright Stage is comfortable, and both venues are handicapped accessible. Restrooms are available. Grab lunch, dinner, or brunch in the bistro next door to keep little stomachs quiet. Each family performance is followed by a discussion period in which actors share stories about the making of the production.
Classes: The Theatre School at
People's Light offers numerous classes each year that provide adults (ages 18 and up) and children (ages seven to 18) with the opportunity to collaborate with company artists in exploring the theatre-making process.
Core Classes, appropriate for students of all levels, are divided by age group and focus on developing the basic tools of the actor - body, voice, and imagination.
Intensive Classes - for students who have taken previous Core Classes and are ready for more advanced work - focus on deepening acting skills through improvisation, ensemble technique, coaching in voice and movement, and scene work.
Camps: Summerstage offers youth in grades two to 12 a more concentrated theatre experience during the summer. A four-week program is offered for kids in grades four through eight; three-week programs are available for high school students; and children in grades two and three can participate in a one-week program. Programs run late June-early August.
