about Pere Marquette State Park:

At more than 8,000 acres, Pere Marquette State Park is Illinois' largest state park. The park's claim to fame include its fall colors and its status as one of the bald eagles' favorite winter roosting spots; its spectacular views of the Illinois and Mississippi rivers are a favorite among visitors, too.

The region's long history of animal and human habitation means that the park is an excellent source of fossils, as well as archaeological sites; in fact, 150 small Native American burial mounds can be found here.

Recreational activities, including camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, boating, and numerous year-'round interpretative programs. The park's website offers a full description of its activities.

The 1930's-era Pere Marquette Lodge and Conference Center is on site; it provides first-class accommodations in a historical setting. The lodge features 50 guest rooms and 22 stone guest cabin rooms, a gift shop, indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, saunas, game room, and a tennis court. A campground with a range of amenities is located nearby.
