Situated on 2,302 acres, the Philadelphia International Airport consists of seven terminals and four runways. Marketplace at the airport, consisting of more than 150 national and local shops and restaurants offering food, beverages and merchandise at "street pricing," has won numerous industry awards for quality, diversity and innovation. In 2002 and 2003, the concessions program was named best in North America. The Aviation Play Station, ideal for children ages one to seven, is located in Terminal D. It includes a jumbo jet where children can get inside to be both passengers and crewmembers, and a smaller plane featuring hand controls and a spinning propeller. The Philadelphia Parking Authority provides garage parking for a daily rate of $17 and long-term economy parking in an exterior lot past Terminal F for a daily rate of $9. Airport buses bring travelers from the Economy Lot to the terminals on a regular basis, but allow some extra time for this as sometimes there is a five- to 15-minute wait for the bus. Taxis charge a flat rate of $25 to and from the Airport/Center City. Airport car rental options include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, National, and Hertz. Complimentary educational walking tours of the airport are available for groups of 10 to 30 individuals ages eight and up. Advance reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance by calling 215.937.5458. The airport's website has a Kid's Corner with information about how planes fly, a list of aviation books, and some printable games and puzzles - great in-flight activities for children ages seven to 12.
