Twin boys this will be there first time seeing a marionette show, we will be going Friday 2/19/10

Pinocchio's Marionette Theater is a charming marionette theater right inside the Altamonte Mall, in Altamonte Springs Florida! Conveniently located right next to Sears, right in front of the My Simon Children's play place! This is the perfect location for such a perfect family friendly adventure!

I have to suspect that the cost of putting on this entertainment was not sufficient enough to cover the overhead. Now that is sad. Sometimes it behoves local government to supplement the cost of an art form of the calibre this show. Certainly, museums, art galleries, operas, and suchlike cannot cover the actual cost of their production with the door charge, which is why their overhead is supplemented with donations from sponsors and the taxpayer who realize that "culture" is important in a civilized society. What we are talking about here is art for the local people and not for the 30 million visitors that inundate us every year. Several venues in Orlando are supported by trips from the public school children--Leu Gardens and Fort Christmas for example-- would it not make sense, therefore, to offer free space and utilities to the Marionette Theatre in one of these places, in order to preserve this beautiful genre?

Yes, sadly they have closed their doors and did so only a couple of weeks after selling me gift certificates. Not cool....I sure hope they respond to my email!

I love Pinochhio's and have been 3 times. But I just learned that they folded and are no longer in business. How sad! Is there any way to get them back?

I highly recommend a trip to Pinocchio's if you and your child love puppets or theater or you would like to introduce your child to either. We saw the Wizard of Oz and it far exceeded my expectations. The sets were amazing and changed frequently, and the puppets seemed real after only a few moments onstage. The show was I believe an original script and had charming and funny songs throughout. The attention to detail in costuming and sets makes this a 100% professional production, and all for less than $10! I can't wait to see the next show and will try to see every one possible at the theater. There is also a neat pre-show where the puppeteer shows the audience how the puppeteers make the marionettes move and act so get there right on time. And the gift shop at the front of the store sells all kinds of interesting and unique toys and many that are reminiscent of the tin toys of the 50s and 60s. Highly recommend you make the trip to see this great little theater and support this great art!

These shows are great for adults and children! Definitely something great to do with the whole family
