about Pirate's Dinner Adventure:

Chaos.

Admittedly, after some time in the soothing Disney subculture, everything in the outside world seems a bit crazy, but the mayhem that met our initial foray into the Pirates Adventure show made us so uncomfortable we have to believe there was more to our distaste than Disney brainwash.

Hordes are crammed into a not-too-small-but-it-feels-too-small space for hors d'ouevres (good luck finding the warming trays), with several cash bars and a themed store. Those unfortunate enough to arrive early (the reservations folks offer a wide range of time for arrival) are trapped in a crowded room for up to 90 minutes, waiting for the show to start.

Finally, some activity appears on the stage to the left of the entrance: it seems that a princess has a gypsy entertainer and pirates are coming, and... whoops - the pirates have taken over and the audience is going to be divided into six "color" groups (each color group must cheer for a corresponding pirate), and the audience is then herded into a larger theater, with tables and benches (some climbing skills may be required to reach your seat), and a large pirate ship fills the center of the theater - the set.

The plot is difficult to untangle, the songs are not memorable (although there seem to be quite a few of them), and the food is ghastly.

Still, we suspect that sports fans (given to cheering for specific teams) might find the evening less horrible than we did - we certainly found a number of enthusiastic fans in our immediate vicinity. Just don't say we didn't warn you!
