Located in the heart of Times Square, the sleek, modern 35,000 square foot, multi-level
Planet Hollywood seats 650 in four dining areas, two bars, and a lounge. Right across the street from the MTV studios, the restaurant can sometimes be spotted in the background of the popular show,
TRL.
A 49-seat
screening room can be rented out for private film, video, and DVD screenings.
When you arrive at the third floor (via elevator), the kids are greeted with crayons and a placemat/menu (word search, maze, etc). The decor is typical
PH, with huge video screens circling the room and props and costumes arrayed for view in glass cases. Our youngest was delighted to recognize the crocodile (or is it an alligator?) from
Lake Placid, a video he longs for at every visit to
Blockbuster, but has been prohibited from actually seeing.
The
kids' menu offers a choice of cheese pizza, Chicken Crunch (sweet chicken fingers), ham and cheese sandwich, or spaghetti and meatballs; drinks and dessert not included.
The waitstaff is extremely nice and accommodating, but it did take three tries before our son got the right drink. Order to table took about ten minutes.
Highchairs are available, but not boosters.
The
bathrooms are busy, as you can imagine, and suffer accordingly, but for the most part are usable.
