About Politics & Prose

Politics & Prose is one of DC's best-loved independent bookstores. Fortunately for parents, they also have a fabulous children's section, complete with a secret cubbyhole under the stairs for snuggling down for a good read - or simply careening through like a wild child.

Regular story times are held Monday mornings at 10:30am. Children of all ages are welcomed, but the stories tend to be geared toward the four and under crowd. Be sure to check our calendar for special author events as well. And if you need a rest, or simply a treat, stop by the coffeehouse at the back of the store.

Tips

There is a parking lot in the rear of the store. If you are driving north on Connecticut, turn right at Fessenden Street then make an immediate left. The entrance to the lot is just before you enter the woods, on the left. If you are driving south on Connecticut you will pass the store on your left after you cross Nebraska Avenue. Make a left turn at Fessenden. There is also street parking.

Getting There

The closest Metro stop is Van Ness on the Red Line. The store is one mile north on Connecticut (a 15 minute walk). You can also take and L1 or L2 bus from the Metro stop.
