Located on 25 acres in the
Blue Hills Reservation, the
Ponkopoag Outdoor Center has offered children's
day camp programs since 1929.
Programs: The
Ponkapoag Day Camp is open to boys and girls ages six to 15 (grades 2 to 10). Kids participate in camp activities with a special emphasis on outdoor discovery.
Teens ages 13 to 15 (grades 7 to 10) participate in the LEAD and Leaders-In-Training program. Its emphasis is on fostering self esteem and leadership qualities. Campers participate in regular activities, day hikes, and out-of-camp excursions.
Activities: Campers engage in a variety of activities including archery, arts and crafts, basketball, counselor training (CIT), hiking, leadership development, nature and environment studies, team and field sports, and swimming instruction and recreation.
Camp Sessions: The program begins in June and ends in September. Children can attend any one of nine week sessions offered.
Special Services: Bus
transportation is provided from several YMCA locations in Boston, Brookline, and other nearby communities for pick-up and drop off.
Registration: Registration begins in February and continues through the end of May. Applications can be made on-line or by contacting the
Greater Boston YMCA.
