A one time butcher shop, the Pork Store Cafe became a favorite among locals in the 1970s and little has changed since. The walls needed fresh paint a couple of decades ago, the decor runs to black and white photos of the Pork Store in its early days, and the music is vintage rock and roll -- Janis Joplin mixes it up with Van Morrison and CCR. Somehow it works. The mood of staff and patrons alike tends to be happy and relaxed. The place is small and most regulars sit at the counter because it's more comfortable than sitting at the small, rickety tables. Still, the place attracts crowds every weekend morning. The food here is grub at its best - omelettes, hash browns, and pancakes. We recommend the Mickey Mouse pancakes, which come with chocolate chip eyes and nose.
