The Poway Branch, San Diego County Library, opened in 1998 in a spacious Spanish-influenced building, offers books, videos, and computer access, as well as an on-site bookstore. One of the library's claims to fame is that it houses one of the County's largest collections of audio-visual materials. Special ongoing events, including Grandparents and Books, Toddler Storytime, and Preschool Storytime entice children to read. The Library Book Store is staffed by knowledgeable, considerate volunteers - and the shelves are incredibly well-organized. The children's book section is especially popular and right it should be, since kids can easily find books for their grade level on the well-marked shelves. Every second Sunday of the month, from 1pm-4pm, the book store has a sale.
