About Powderhorn Park & Recreation Center
This green space in South Minneapolis - the largest neighborhood park in the Minneapolis Parks system - boasts a lake, athletic fields, two playgrounds, picnic areas, tennis courts, a wading pool, a fishing dock, and a rec center that offers programming all year.
Powderhorn hosts Heart of the Beast's MayDay Festival each May, the Powderhorn Arts Festival each August, a large July 4th celebration, and other neighborhood, holiday, and ethnic festivals and events.
Unlike many other neighborhood parks in Minneapolis, Powderhorn attracts large numbers of families from many different racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups, making for a wonderfully diverse crowd on the playground, in the classes, and during festivals.
Parties: Rent a room in the Rec Center for children's birthdays; the center has kitchen facilities that can be used for storing/prepping refreshments.

Getting There
The park is bounded by 10th and 15th Avenues, and 31st and 35th Streets. Park in the free lot at the Rec Center on the east side of the park, or during big festivals, on side streets - or better yet, bike or bus over!

- If you haven't been to May Day at Powderhorn, you haven't experienced the best of the cities' festivals! We love May Day and powderhorn has great playgrounds and plenty of room to run any time. A great CITY park.

[Submitted by Anonymous6/22/06 - The kids enjoyed it, the park was older but still in ok condition.
