The
Prospect Park Bandshell, located inside the
Park at Prospect Park West and 9th Street, was constructed in 1939 to serve as a site for live entertainment.
Renovated since then, the
Bandshell remains the Park's premier venue for live entertainment and is the home of
Celebrate Brooklyn!, one of New York City's longest running, free, outdoor performing arts festivals. Music, dance, film, and spoken word performances are held each summer from June through August.
Seating in the Bandshell's 2000-seat plaza or on the 5000-capacity lawn is generally first-come, first-served. In addition to hosting musical performances, the Bandshell is one of the largest outdoor cinemas in the world, with a 21-foot-high and 50-foot wide movie screen.
Food and beverage concessions and public restrooms are on-site.
