The building that houses the Pruitt Branch Library was originally a fire hall; it opened as a library in 1993, and was expanded to include Pruitt Homework Center, equipped with five computers, in December, 1996.
A library card is good at all 21 locations of the Public Library of Nashville and Davidson County. With it, burgeoning literary fans have free access to more than 740,000 books, 19,000 books on tape, and 4,000 music CDs - with new titles arriving daily. Visitors also have access to more than 12,000 recreational and educational videos.
Library cards are free to all residents of Davidson County and persons living within the Goodlettsville city limits. To obtain a library card, you must present an ID with your current address (call 862.5790 for details). Free cards are available to Metro employees. Cards are also available to nonresidents for $25 per year.
