About Queen Califia's Magic Circle

Inspired by the story of California's namesake, Queen Califia of the Amazon, French sculptor Nikki de Saint Phalle created a garden tribute to her majesty. Featured in the huge walk-in Queen Califia's Magic Circle are nine large-scale sculptures, mirrors and colored tiles galore. The sculpture garden, located in Kit Carson Park, is well worth a visit.

We didn't know anything about this location until geocaching (www.geocaching.com) brought us to the area. When we came around the edge of some trees and saw the circle, we really did think it was magical. People of any age will enjoy viewing & touching this magnificent piece of work. There are also two pieces of sculpture in Balboa Park and another one on the UCSD campus.
