My 5-year-old son loves the Queens zoo, and so do I. I have been traveled to many zoos both inside and outside America, but this one is special in several ways. First, the size is about right not only for a kid, but even for an adult. It is so well designed that you cannot miss one site. The aviary, which looks like a semi-hemisphere, is original, and the ramp resembles a roller coaster. My son asked to walk one more time just to enjoy the ups and downs and the twists and turns. Second, it focuses on animals in the western hemisphere. For a person who was born and raised in China, I am not familiar with these animals and have difficult making comparisons. This zoo does well in enlightening us. For example, it clarifies the difference between a seal and a sea lion, a lynx and a bobcat, an alligator and a crocodile, a coyote and a wolf. Most important of all, zookeepers here seem to have passions and missions. Somehow I got an impression that other zoos use animals to entertain humans. Here zookeepers would like to protect animals, as exemplified by one bald eagle that was hurt by an airplane. This zoo reminds me the rarely true description: small is beautiful.

I had an amazine time with both of my kids; 9 and 4 years old. The zoo has a lot of great qualities; cool circular bird house, many of the animals can be seen up close, and the sea lion feeding is also great. I totally recommend this zoo.

I love this zoo because it isn't too overwhelming for my special needs child. The petting zoo is fantastic especially when they have special shows. Love the carousel located right outside of the zoo, and the park is great for picnics and summer birthday parties.

The zoo is small enough so it is not overwhelming for toddlers, but still has enough animals to make it interesting. The petting zoo is also fun.
