A good destination when in
Little Tokyo,
Rafu Bussan, Inc. is a perfect place to buy small
gifts and souvenirs with a Japanese flavor. The store has a wide selection of
porcelain, ranging from $8 coffee mugs to $100 platters and vases. you'll find a wonderful section of Japanese-made
housewares - tea strainers, plastic food containers, utensils, and mixing bowls - and an interesting selection of Japanese
candy and gum in great colors with clever packaging. There are cases full of
oregami papers, Japanese wallets, fans, key chains, purses, stationery sets; all things that make great stocking stuffers or party favors. In the back,
Rafu Bussan has a large display of Japanese-costumed
dolls for collectors. These can be extremely expensive, but are a lot of fun for youngsters to look at. The staff gets a bit tense when little ones go back into that section, though; be sure to give the kids a
'NO TOUCHING' lecture before you go!
