Whether you know it as the Timothy Cochoran Play Area or Raymond Street Park, this playground promises great times for all who visit.
Situated on the edge of a grassy, shaded playing field, the equipment is clearly designated for two different age groups.
A sandy, sunken area is meant for toddlers and preschoolers. A climbing structure with a slide is scaled for smaller climbers, four infant swings are available to accommodate a greater number of kids, and the sand makes for one huge sand box and a lot of sand-filled shoes and grubby fingers. Many parents bring their own sand toys to occupy their kids a little longer. A train, set away from the playground action, is perfect for toddlers.
The older children will enjoy a climbing structure that offers a large, twisting slide, a contraption that slides hangers-on across a rail, a bridge, and other fun stuff. Six swings, including one handicapped swing seat, make for multi-kid swinging contests.
Older kids who are brought along for the ride should remember to bring a basketball or a bat and ball. Across from the playing area are four basketball hoops and an adjacent baseball field.
Benches are scattered near each playing area. A picnic table with special needs access offers a place to catch a quick bite. You can also spread a picnic blanket on a nearby patch of green under the shade of a tree. The perimeter of the playground is dotted with flowers - take a deep breath and relax.
