The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture is dedicated to sharing the courageous journeys toward freedom and self-determination made by African-American Marylanders. The museum introduces visitors to Maryland's African-American heritage via three galleries and major content areas: Things Hold, Lines Connect: African-American Families and Communities in Maryland, Building Maryland, Building America: Labor and the Black Experience, and The Strength of the Mind: Black Art and Intellect.
A Learning Resource Center features stations with touch-screen computers, and printers and Internet access link guests to current and historical information online. An Oral History Recording & Listening Studio allows visitors to listen to oral histories and stories - as told by Maryland's famous and not-so-famous African Americans - and record their own. A Theater hosts theatrical, dance, and musical performances; film festivals; lectures; panel discussions; and receptions. There is also a Museum Shop and Cafe, which both highlight things that are uniquely Maryland.
