The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge Complex is a protected area packed with hiking trails, waterways, and opportunities to commune with the wild.

The 1.2 mile Kiwa Trail is open May 1 through September 30. Its compacted gravel path is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.

Fishing is allowed in Lake River. Fishers must park at the entrance parking lot and restroom area next to the visitor contact station, then walk down the side of the levy to reach the banks of Lake River. There are no fishing piers or launch facilities.
