about Rio Grande Zoo:

The winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find the Best Day Camp for Little Kids and Best Place for Family Bonding in Albuquerque, and our 2009 Parents' Picks Award for Best Day Camp, the 64-acre Rio Grande Zoo is located in the Albuquerque BioPark, which also houses the Albuquerque Aquarium and the Rio Grande Botanic Garden.

The Zoo is home to over 250 species. Its habitats are nicely done and provide a glimpse into each animal's natural environment.

Educational programs, opportunities to interact with animals, tours, and a variety of special events are offered on a regular basis. Check our event calendar for details.

For food and snacks, the Cottonwood Cafe is located near the duck pond and bandshell. The Matunda Cafe and Phoenix Plaza Snack Bar are also on site; check the website for operating schedules.

Gift shops carry a variety of animal-themed toys, t-shirts, hats, and more.

Annual membership in the New Mexico Biological Park Society starts at $79/family and offers benefits including free admission to the Aquarium, Botanic Garden, and Zoo.
