about Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary:
The Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary has been officially designated by the National Audubon Society as an Important Bird Area: A number of common and rare birds - including bald eagles, trumpeter swans, and white pelicans - migrate along this portion of the Mississippi River throughout the year. Several endangered plants also thrive in the sanctuary.
getting there:
Located about 30 minutes north of the Gateway Arch on the Mississippi River near Alton, Illinois. From St. Louis, take I-70 East to I-270 North/East. Take I-270 to 367 North (Alton exit). Follow to the Clark Bridge (Illinois state line). Follow signs for parking.
