The Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center offers myriad programs and services for folks of all ages. The JCC's campus includes fitness and tennis centers, classrooms, meeting rooms, a social hall, a commercial kosher kitchen, a nationally accredited preschool, and a childcare center.
The Early Childhood Center (another branch is in Boulder) offers a child-centered curriculum based on a developmental approach. The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and offers year-round swim instruction and recreational swim for ages three to six, weekly physical education and movement classes in the JCC's full-size gymnasium, a concert series held in the Shwayder Theatre, special Jewish holiday and Sabbath activities, an Afternoon Adventure Club (for toilet-trained three to five year olds), and a full-day preschool program. Program options run from 7am-6pm. Call 303.316.6377.
The JCC also hosts school vacation camps (grades 1-6) and summer camps (grades 1-12).
The onsite Rose & Robyn Loup Childcare Center is available to JCC members for a maximum of two hours a day by reservation only. The Center welcomes children from six weeks through eight years, giving parents a chance to catch up on their exercise. Parents must remain on the JCC premises when their children are in the Child Care Center or participating in a childcare class.
Both indoor and outdoor pools give families a chance to test their swim techniques, and classes for children are available, based on age and experience. Group swimming lessons are held Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings. Family swim times are listed on the bulletin board. The Aquatics Department can be reached by calling 303.316.6444.
The Tennis Center is small enough to remain friendly and welcoming, yet large enough to provide competition at every level, along with four well lighted indoor courts, four outdoor courts, locker rooms, a pro shop, a ball machine, and a broad range of personalized programs. Family Tennis Club membership is $768/year, plus a $150 initiation fee. Private and semi-private lessons, and drills, are available. Junior programs are offered after school for kids ages four to 17. 303.316.6380 is the number to call.
Other youth programs at the JCC include gymnastics, dance, basketball, Tae Kwan Do, youth yoga, and American Red Cross babysitting and CPR classes.
The Sports & Fitness Center offers a variety of party packages for ages two to 13. The Premium Party package ($175-$250) includes a 2-hour reservation for the gymnasium, multi-purpose room or the indoor pool and a party room for a maximum of 24 children. One to three staff members (lifeguard and party staff) will be in attendance, but you must provide at least one adult assistant. For an additional fee, the Sports & Fitness Center will decorate the party room with balloons, confetti, and paper goods at your request. JCC kosher guidelines must be observed for all food and beverages. In observance of the Sabbath, parties cannot be held on Saturdays.
The Mizel Center for Arts and Culture, situated on the JCC campus, boasts the 300-seat Shwayder Theatre with commercial film capability, an exhibitions gallery, art and pottery studios, and additional theatre and dance spaces.
Although you do not need to belong to the JCC to attend cultural and special events, a JCC membership is a prerequisite for enrolling in any JCC or Mizel Center class or program.
