The
Rockford Road Library, part of the
Hennepin County Library system, is a medium-sized library with a
Children's Area boasting a bright red fire truck where adults and children can sit and read together.
The section also has a 3-D sculpture of Jack and the Beanstalk (with requisite giant, of course!) and a
Mother Goose soft sculpture. Nine computers with kid-friendly access, board books, and other materials offer early literacy support.
The
Teen Area is located in the opposite corner of the library from the children's section and has big, comfortable chairs and eight dedicated computers. A
Teen Art Fair featuring works by local teens is held each October.
A collection of materials in
Spanish is available for native speakers and language learners. The library also features
two small study rooms and a large quiet study area.
Self-service machines are available to speed checkout. Two
restrooms with changing tables and a water fountain are located off the main entry hall.
The library hosts
storytimes throughout the year, and special children's programs and reading clubs in the summer. Friends of the Rockford Road Library holds on-site
book sales three times a year to support library activities.
