Rocky River Public Library and Cowan Pottery Museum offers age-appropriate reading groups several times weekly, including Baby and Me for one-year-olds (and parent), Toddler Story Time for twos and threes (with an adult), and PreSchool Story Time for kids ages 4 through kindergarten.
For first through third grade students, Discover helps bring the world into focus through international stories, games, songs, and crafts.
River Readers is a kids-style reading club. A copy of a title, selected by a children's librarian, is given to each child at the beginning of the discussion group. (Each group lasts approximately four weeks.)
Registration is requested for each of these storytime/discussion groups. (To register, stop in the children's room at the library or call 440.333.7610 ext. 502.)
In addition to a very broad selection in the children's room, especially in fiction, the Rocky River Public Library also has a wide variety of puzzles available for circulation.
The Cowan Pottery Museum, inside the library, is open during all of the library's open hours. The museum displays over 1100 ceramic works from R. Guy Cowan, a ceramics engineer, and several fellow artists, including Margaret Postgate, Frank Wilcox, and Viktor Schreckengost among others.
Stroll through the exhibits with your young ones in tow before or after a library program; the works will certainly leave an impression - and their impressions may surprise you!
