Home to the
largest Rodin collection outside of Paris, this museum includes over a hundred sculptures and bronze casts from the great artist, Auguste Rodin. The collection features bronze casts of the artist's greatest works,
The Thinker and
The Gates of Hell.
The lovely gardens that surround the museum offer great running areas for kids, and places to stop and sit. Sculptures scattered throughout the grassy fields bring the museum feeling outside and provide open-air fun on warm days.
Free guided tours of the
Rodin Museum are offered to the public at 1pm every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and on the first and third Saturdays of each month. There is a wheelchair entrance near the front - good to use if you have a stroller, so you can avoid the long steps leading to the front doors! Restrooms are large and provide diaper changing facilities.
The
Rodin Museum is only a short jaunt from the
Philadelphia Museum of Art and sits on the edge of
Fairmount Park, making it a great component on a daylong outing.
