Greek family recipes and great, genuinely friendly service make Romios Pizza & Pasta a fine family dining destination.
The fresh pizza is probably the main draw (the dough is from a proprietary recipe, and made daily, never frozen) but it's hardly the only dinner choice. Generously sized Greek salads make good dinners, as do the gyros and other yummy sandwiches.
You better save room for dessert, though, because if you don't, your kids won't forgive you. The "Ice-Cream Potato" really isn't a potato; it's well-disguised cookies and cream ice cream, topped with whipped cream and sprinkles, which looks for all the world like a spud with sour cream and chives. If the surprise wears thin on that sweet ending, there's always the thrill of "S'Mores for Four," which will have your kids roasting their own marshmallows, right on the table.
While the staff's friendly dispositions are enough to win a family's loyalty, it helps that they're quick to deliver crayons and coloring books to your table, and just as quick to make room for your kid's car seat, or to provide a booster or high chair.
While there are several Romios locations in Seattle, where the family-owned business started, there are only two in LA for now, so expect it to be a bit crowded, especially at dinner time on Friday and Saturday evenings.
And that's OK - if you have to wait for a table inside, it'll give you an excuse to enjoy the quaint patio outside.
If you'd rather eat at home, you can get all menu items for carryout; delivery is also available.
