Rubio's Mexican Grill is a restaurant chain that can be found throughout the southwestern United States, with some locations as far north as Utah and Colorado. The restaurant is known for its fish tacos, but the menu also boasts burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, taquitos, salads, and more.
When ordering from the kids' menu, kids can choose from a cheese quesadilla, a bean and cheese burrito, or two chicken taquitos. The kids' meals also come with a side item (rice, beans, chips, or applesauce), a small soft drink or milk, and a mini churro. Our favorite part: the applesauce is all-natural and has no added sugar, and the milk is rBST-free.
We can't get enough of the street tacos - tiny corn tortillas filled with guacamole, a mix of cilantro and onion, and a choice of chicken, steak, or pork. Squeeze a little fresh lime on them and it's just like getting them fresh from the taco vendor at the beach. The blackened mahi mahi taco is another big hit with our family.
Yes, this is a fast food Mexican restaurant, but the food is made fresh, so expect to wait a bit for it to be delivered to your table. It's definitely worth the wait though, and you can always busy yourself by loading up on salsas, limes, jalopeno peppers, and cilantro at the salsa bar.
