Ironically, the really theatrical location of this Pan Asian restaurant, with the Sunset Boulevard proof staircase, was the uptown one (closed January 2009) - not the one in Times Square. Times Square is simply a huge space with an assortment of Buddhas parked around the perimeters. Ruby Foo's offers a bit of a challenge to young palates; you won't find many dishes the kids will find familiar. No lo mein, minimal teriyaki. But if the kids are up for an adventure, or if they're sushi fans (yes, we know a few six year olds who are!), Ruby Foo's is a fun choice. Try the Dim Sum options - Ruby Foo's is all about sharing, and everything you order is placed in the center of the table so everyone can have a taste. Spare ribs and sticky rice can be a perfectly respectable lunch, and you might even be able to sneak a veggie from one of your other dishes onto the kids' plates. A Just Foo The Kids menu - including hot dogs, chicken fingers, and fries - is also available for kids 10 and under. High chairs and booster seats are available, and children are given crayons and a couple of xeroxed sheets to color. No changing table in the bathrooms, but the stalls are spacious and nicely configured.
