Ruth was a Utah original, as is the diner that bears her name. The restaurant is an old streetcar that sits in the gorgeous setting of Emigration Canyon. Families have been coming to Ruth's for generations, enjoying the hamburgers, lasagna, omelettes, pancakes, biscuits, enchiladas, sandwiches, and more. Several vegetarian items are on the menu, and child-size portions are available for the little ones.
The service is hit and miss. With a family in tow, it's best to avoid the weekend breakfast rush, or any other busy time; call ahead to inquire about the wait time. Reservations are not accepted, except during the holiday season.
While the food is certainly delicious, the real draw is the restaurant itself - take some time to read the back of the menu to learn all about the colorful history of the place and its former owner. Both kids and adults enjoy checking out the photos on the walls and the funky lamps on the tables. On nice days, try to get a table on the outdoor patio; the kids love to see the pigeons in the pigeon house out back.
Highchairs are available.
