Sam Houston Park dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, when it was established as the city's first park. Nestled in the heart of downtown Houston, the park is a nice spot to
enjoy a picnic or just a little down-time, featuring benches, paths, a fountain, a gazebo, a bridge over a duck pond, plenty of open green space, and huge oak trees providing shade.
The park is also home to the
Heritage Society's historic structures and museum.
