The
San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium, located in
Brackenridge Park, is a true San Antonio gem.
The zoo is home to over 3,500 animals, representing 750 species of animals on 56 acres. Zoo exhibits include

Cranes of the World,
Gibbon Forest,
Hixon Bird House,
Lory Landing,
Prairie Chickens, and
Prairie Dogs.
At
Kronkosky's Tiny Tot Nature Spot, little explorers are encouraged to dig, climb, get wet, and experience nature and animals up close and personal. The Discovery House is an interior exhibit that features three distinct exhibit rooms: Explore Your Underground, where children check out the underground world of prairie dogs and earthworms; the Explore Your Pond room, where kids they can play in an indoor pond; and a child-sized aquarium.
Birthday party options range from "Zoo It Yourself" to Safari parties. Reservations must be made two weeks prior to your party, and are taken on a first come, first served basis. Call 210734.7184, ex 1501; a $50 non-refundable deposit is due upon booking.
Summer camp programs are offered for kids entering kindergarten through eighth grade. Tiny Tot programs (meeting a few days a week) are open to little ones ages two to four.
