The
San Diego Archaeological Center is both a museum and curatorial facility focused on preserving archaeological collections and promoting their educational, scientific, and cultural use. Exhibits at the small museum are exclusively of items located in San Diego; the exhibits change every three months. In addition to providing exhibits, the Center offers a workshop the second Saturday of every month - some of which are family-friendly, others designed for professionals. The San Diego Archaeological Center is the lead Southern California agency for
Project Archaeology, an undertaking by the Bureau of Land Management. As such, they work within the community to enhance understanding of archaeology and its importance. Many of its programs take place within schools and museums.
