Totally devoted to old cars and automotive history, the museum has a collection of over 60 historic automobiles as well as other vehicles. It's fun to browse and special exhibits, such as, motorcycles of the world, make it interesting for most. But this is definitely a look-but-don't-touch kind of place. The staff is a little nervous about very young or overly-eager kids.
Car-crazy kids might consider the Summer Auto Camps and Scale Model Car Building Camps offered during the summer. Each camp is one-week long, and held either in the morning or afternoon, depending on the camp selected. A third option is the Transportation Camp, co-hosted by the San Diego Automotive and Railroad Museums; this camp is also week-long, but full day.
