The San Diego Civic Youth Ballet offers classical dance classes year round for aspiring ballet dancers, including pre-ballet, advanced pointe, pas de duex, and boys technique. It also has a beginner's class for four-year-olds. Many of the students perform in The Nutcracker Suite that the Ballet hosts every year.
For those who don't want to be ballerinas, the school also offers lessons in jazz and modern dance.
SDCYB has been the resident ballet school in Balboa Park's Casa del Prado theater for more than 60 years.

Even if you don't participate in the Nutcracker presentation you must take the kids to see it at least once. Even very young ones will stay awake for this bright, fascinating spectacle! Get dressed up and make it a special family night out.
getting there:
SDCYB is off Park Blvd. and Village Place in Balboa Park. Performances are held at Casa del Prado Theater, at Village Place and Old Globe Way.
