about The San Diego Museum of Art:

While The San Diego Museum of Art focuses largely on its adult audience, the museum does go out of its way to hold exhibits that kids might find more appealing and hosts related events for families. The museum offers tours of its exhibits. The museum's permanent exhibits include a large Asian collection, some Impressionism, 20th-century American and European art and sculpture, Indian paintings, and a Gallery of California Art.

Family festivals are held at the museum four times a year. Each festival includes thematic interactive art projects for all ages based on the current exhibitions, and artist demonstrations. The festivals provide live entertainment, gallery activities, free admission to the museum, and exhibit tours in English and Spanish.

The Museum Art School temporarily closed in January 2009 due to declining enrollment and financial difficulties. A reopening date has not been set.
