We love this music class! I have been taking my son to SDMT since he was one and he is now 22 months old and is still enjoying his music classes as much as ever! The teachers are wonderful and are so enthusiastic! They really try to engage the children. I have a 9 week old too and even he enjoys the classes if he's awake :) SDMT is a great way to introduce children to music and it will become one of your favorite activities to do with your kids!

I started Music Together when my daughter was about 8 months old and she absolutely loved it! She went for 2 years and now my son attends and he's 15 months old. I cannot say enough great things about the "cirriculum", the teachers and what a wonderful impact these classes have made on my children. It's great when all 3 of us are singing in the car! And often I have found myself singing the songs when they are not even around!! Thank you to Laura and her team for teaching parents the how's and why's of music and it's effects on children.

My daughter started SDMT when she was just an infant. My younger son just started this year at 3 months old. No child is too young to start the love of music. Over the years with my daughter it was a way for me to connect to her day (I am a working mommy). Now I am able to take time with my son. While any class with numerous care givers and children can be social, the teacher always takes charge and we are happily singing away in no time. The best part is that the teacher helps with tips on how to work with your child on gaining an interest in the music and what to look for in them as they grow. There is also take home literature which helps the working mommy and daddy connect with what your child is experiencing. Several times during the week we now put on baby brother's SDMT CD (my daughter knows every song by heart from past three years) We pull out the music box and all four of us begin to play and sing. My nine month old will play the drum, shake the shakers or attempt to clang the cymbals. My daughter dances and plays anything, just moves to the beat. I witnessed both of them progress immediately following sessions of SDMT. My son most recently started clapping anytime I began to sing a song to him. He soothes best at night to a particular lullaby we sing in class. I did not register my daughter this last session because her school claimed to be doing music. BIG MISTAKE! I will have both of them enrolled in the next session. There is nothing more fun and stimulating... you just have to go with the flow, engage with your child and have fun.

My daughter is singing one of the songs as I write this. We now have our own lullaby time at bedtime and she makes requests. The music, teachers and CD are all QUALITY!

What a well put together program! As a classical music fan, I was initially weary of listening to what I thought would be "kiddie music" CD's. Instead I found interesting and creative arrangements of some of the traditional tunes as well as great pieces composed just for children. My 2.5 year old daughter is mesmerized by many of the songs, and the CD's have (thankfully) taken the place of her Baby Einstein DVD's. The teachers are warm, enthusiastic, and great with kids. Can't really ask for anything more.

My older son is 3 and started MT on his 1st birthday. My other son is 1 and started MT at 1 week. The three of us go to class together. My 3-yr old knows the songs and spends lots of energy in class. My 1-yr old already plays rhythm on drums. The teacher is great at explaining what and how the kids are learning (the class as a whole and your own little musician). A great place for kids to learn, play, and socialize. Also great entertainment for Mom.

At the recommendation of friends in Santa Fe, NM, we looked for a local Music Together program and are so thankful to have found one in San Diego! We started six months ago, when my son just turned one, and we hate it if we have to go a week without a class. My son was shy at first, but would clap his hands, beat anything as a drum, and dance around at home to the CDs they sent home with us. Given the warm, supportive atmosphere in class though, he's really warmed up, and really gets into the action - dancing, drumming, clapping, and even trying to sing (despite that he's not talking yet). We've had Laura, Gina and Heather for teachers, and they're all great. We've also attended classes in three different locations (due to make-ups, etc.) and each worked well, although we love Pt. Loma Ballet most. And, the make-up policy is wonderful unlike some classes we take that make it very difficult to make up a class. All in all, I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND San Diego Music Together!!

We adore Music Together! After trying another place in town that was a terrible fit for our daughter, we decided to give MT a try and couldn't be happier. The environment is warm and nurturing as well as fun and exciting. Our somewhat introverted toddler has blossomed into a much more confident and outgoing little girl thanks to the teaching style of MT. Now our younger daughter (who started attending class at age 6 weeks) is loving it in her own way. The teachers are great and really try to draw out the personality of the children without pushing them to do everything "perfect." Most of what I love is that there is no "right" way to "do" the class. Each child starts where they are and is respected for who they are. I can't say enough good things about it. I wish it continued on for older children!

I've been taking my son to Music Together since he was 5 months old (he is now 2). The teachers are very engaging and talented, and the curriculum is excellent. The schedule is flexible (there are even classes offered on Sundays), so the program is definitely catered to mom or dad (or grandparents) participating. I especially like that the classes are small, and the kids interact with the teacher and each other. A great experience for young children and their parents!

I have attended Music Together classes in Northern CA with my daughter and now in San Diego with my son (1 year old). There's tons of research that goes behind the program and Laura is one of the best instructors I've had -- warm and inviting with the kids, truly enjoys the music (great voice), and makes it fun for adults too. I highly recommend this for all... whether you feel your musically talented or not -- all are welcome!!

My daughter, who is 2, absolutely loves her SD Music together class. Our teacher is great and the class is so much fun. My daughter loves to sing, dance around, and play the instruments. The best part is getting the CD to take home so she can listen and learn all through the week, not just in class. We love SD Music together and will be taking classes again the future!

This is our second year in music class with Miss Joy and my kids just have a blast. My 2 year old loves the animation of the songs and playing the musical instruments. My 3 1/2 year old is really learning the words to the songs and loves the surprises Joy brings to the class every week. I would highly recommend the program to all families. We look forward to music class every week!

As a mother of 2 who is thankful for my own music education, I whole-heartedly recommend Music Together to parents with young children. I have been taking my daughter since she was 15 months (now 4 and "graduated") and my son since he was a newborn tagging along with big sister. The course is an incredibly well-conceived program for young children with the goal of fostering a love (no performance anxiety!) of many facets of music: rhythm, dance, poetry, drama... Each quarter involves a focus on a collection of music/rhymes in the weekly class. This is reinforced with a CD to take home (with a second copy for the car) in addition to a music book. The book is a fantastic opportunity for parents and children to enjoy music together at home: each song has a picture associated with it such that even my 1 year old could identify the song he wanted to sing by flipping through the book. We could then sing together while I played (and he explored) the piano. For those of you with musical backgrounds, you will appreciate the variety of musical genres and concepts introduced (i.e. syncope, 3 against 2 rythym patterns); many of the teachers are phenomenal at relating to kids at different levels and reinforcing an individual child's recognition or enjoyment of a certain aspect of a piece. I really believe that the class has been a big part of not only my children's love for music (not an hours goes by where they aren't singing, including making new verses to familiar melodies) but also their language development and self-confidence. In summary, I highly recommend this for children up to age 4. From age 3.5-4, some of the more dramatic kids may get more out of a different venue (i.e. may get a bit rambunctious for a group that includes infants). Another point: Music Together is a great opportunity for children and their parents/caregivers to enjoy TOGETHER. There may be some adults who get distracted socializing with each other, but this is appropriately discouraged during the class-time by the teacher. Like anything else, you get out what you put into it and most of us would prefer you save the socializing for after class (where many a great relationship may be still be made!). If your group is not focusing on the kids, speak to the teacher or ask to switch groups.

My boys now 9,7 and 2 have all taken Music Together classes. In fact, they have all had the honor of having the same teacher, Miss Laura. We literally have grown up together. It is a wonderful environment that allows children to express themselves freely and siblings of various ages to participate in an activity together. Now, while my older boys are in school I get to enjoy the magic with my energetic and playful two year old. It is truly a bonding and positive experience. I would highly recommend this class.

Wonderful music, lots of activity and oppty to explore music. My toddler (19 months) just loves it. We have had both Laura and Gina as teachers and are very impressed with the enthusiam and musical talent. The class environment is very nuturing and encourages the kids to love music. This is our favorite activity to do together.

it seemed more like a social scene than for the kids. my child was did not like it at all. if your child is over 4yrs old Do not go. save your money into something else. They are not approachable and sorta do their own thing as schedule. they are not there for the kids though. more for themselves.
