Deadline for applications: January 30 A co-ed K through 8th school set in airy and spacious architect-designed facilities. The curriculum is a blend of traditional academic teaching and progressive arts-based programs. Along with reading, writing, and computation, students are taught problem solving and critical thinking skills. Creative expression is valued as an integral component of every child's growth; thus, boys and girls are encouraged to be active and inquisitive participants, as well as careful observers and considerate listeners. Academic excellence, community diversity and inclusiveness, a strong partnership between family and school, and fostering shared values of compassion, integrity, and responsibility are the cornerstones of an SFDS education. Students are encouraged to become involved in their urban community through the school's well-established volunteer program. The school hosts an
arts-based camp every summer.
