The SF Recreation and Park Department maintains several swimming pools around town. All are heated and command a nominal fee. Open, or recreation swim times, are limited and vary by season. Call ahead for information. Be warned that it's sometimes very hard to get anyone on the phone and the quality of the programs can vary dramatically by location. The San Francisco Parks & Recreation Department offers aquatics programs, including some lessons and swim teams, at the public facilities listed below. Children's swim lessons are either free or priced a few dollars per lesson (depending on the pool) and are generally offered on Saturday mornings. We recommend calling the pool directly for current class, schedule, and cost information. Limited information is available on the Department website if searched by activity.
