One of the oldest pleasure piers in the country, and a focal point of Los Angeles, the
Santa Monica Pier is a historic landmark situated at the end of historic route 66.
At the
Pier, families may enjoy an antique
carousel, loads of street entertainment, a fishing balcony,
Pacific Park,
the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, a
trapeze school, souvenir shopping, and fun food. It is also a great place to survey the Pacific Ocean and take in the delicious ocean breezes.
Summertime brings the annual
concerts on the pier every Thursday evening, and late summer/early autumn is generally when the kids' Saturday morning concerts kick in.
Parking Fee: $6-$10 per car, depending on the season. A short term lot is also available below the Pier for $1 per hour (maximum two hours), or there are meters along Ocean. Free city parking (up to three hours) is available in lots adjacent to
the Promenade.
