Sara arrived for our first photo session on a Saturday morning after a really stressful week for our family. As the day unfolded, I began to understand all of the planning Sara put into the day. She asked us ahead of time how we like to spend our Saturdays, then planned "sessions within the session" to capture those moments.

The stress of our week faded away as we enjoyed spending time as a family doing the things we love: reading, cooking and playing in the backyard with our dog. More than that, Sara captured the moments of our day that seem insignificant, but are really so precious, things like napping, diapering, even nursing, that make up such a big part of our days with Carter.

At the viewing appointment, we were amazed at the details of our life and home that Sara captured in her photos. Things that had become background for us but that really say a lot about who we are as a family: father and son Braves jerseys, the quilt that Great Grandma made, books, even Carter's favorite pacifier! I have never had a photo session in my home before, but highly recommend it after seeing how Sara captured more than just our family, she captured a real day in our life, diapers and all.

I had mentioned off hand at our photo session that our sweet black lab, Hiro, had been a bit neglected since the birth of Carter. At the viewing appointment, we were blown away to see such beautiful pictures of Hiro! Sara totally captured his expression of unconditional love and patience for the new addition to our lives.

The other thing I noticed at our viewing appointment was the range of emotion Sara captured in her photos of Carter, Jonathan and I. I am used to one-dimensional photos of a family smiling for the camera. Sara captured all the emotions that play through a family in a day, crying, smiling, laughing, even boredom.

I am looking forward to our two upcoming sessions with Sara to see how Carter and our family grow and change over the months. Sara has wonderful eye when it comes to capturing the personality of our family: she is a gifted artist!
