Entertainment farming? Agri-tourism? Call it the lengths to which a traditional farmer will go to keep the farm alive for the next generation. Schnepf Farms has made the transition and remains an oasis in the desert for Valley schoolchildren and families.
The 600-acre working farm offers a variety of seasonal activities and festivals. Kids age 5 and up can be a farmer for a day or lend a hand in the kitchen on Grandma's baking day (6 and up). The farm conducts educational tours and special activities for school groups, moms' clubs, and homeschoolers.
Families can harvest their own organic vegetables and fruits in season with the U-Pick Gardens and Orchards program. There's a campsite, gift and sweet shops, and a bakery offering delicious homemade cinnamon rolls, pies, and cookies. Visitors can enjoy a full range of country cooking delights at the Fresh from the Farm Restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Wed-Sat 7:30am-8pm, and Sun 7:30am-3pm.
The Farmhouse at Schnepf Farms, a wedding and event facility, is open year round.
Annual events include the Queen Creek Peach Festival in May, the Pumpkin and Chili Party in October, and the Winter Wonderland in November and December.
