Take an interactive walk through Florida's history at the Schoolhouse Children's Museum, winner of our 2009 Parents' Picks award for best local museum. The 1913 schoolhouse was used as a public school up until 1989, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The museum features child-sized versions of a farm, train depot, and post office. There are old photographs taken in the town of Boynton Beach throughout the museum.

Home school groups and special interest groups can arrange a group visit with an activity customized to their needs. Choose from the Butterfly Hunt, Discovery Boxes, and Arts and Crafts. Call the Education Department at 561.742.6782 for details and reservations. The school also offers Home School Enrichment Classes for students ages seven to 10.

There's a big play area just outside the museum.

Summer camps are also available.

It's a nice place to bring your kids, but there are a couple of issues. By the way, we've had annual passes for three years so I'm not saying it's bad...just could use improvement. 1. No place for parents/grandparents to sit and watch their kids play. Guardians pretty much have to stand over their kids the whole time they're there. 2. The museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays and Saturdays are often reserved for birthday parties. Kind of makes it hard to visit this facility.

Lucky Boynton to have such a jewel in it's anonymous midst! Tell everyone I know about it and what fun it is for both adults and children.

I went to the museum with 5 children ranging in age from 16 months to 10 years and they all loved it! Very interactive- very fun!! It exceeded my expectations and we will definitely be returning!

Never a disappointment - from ages 18 months to about 7 (give or take), this is the place for imaginations to soar and for extra special sharing with kids or grandkids.

Nice staff, awesome exhibits, good location, library, park and restaurants nearby. Learn about history, what a nice museum for kids of all ages.

I have visited the Schoolhouse Children's Museum many many times while on a work break from the Police Dept. From the first step into the Museum, it draws you in with the delightful sound of little kids having a great time...fun..and laughter and learning about our history. I have many friends with little ones who come weekly and really enjoy the interaction and education. Thanks for making the Schoolhouse Children's Museum a historical highlight of my day.

I have been Schoolhouse Children's Museum many many times during a work break, and love how it just draws you in. The children are always have a wonderful time and learning about our history at the same time. Many of my friends with little ones come weekly and love the interaction. I tell everyone about it, especially visitors from Out of State.
