Schuylkill River Park, a neighborhood park under the joint jurisdiction of Fairmount Park and the Philadelphia Recreation Department, is centered around 25th and Spruce Streets. Markward Playground, a city recreational facility, offers a baseball diamond and athletic field, tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts. Schuylkill River Park also offers community gardens, a well maintained dog park, and open space for lounging and strolling.

The Schuylkill Trail is an 11.5-mile, paved multi-use trail that connects Philadelphia with Valley Forge National Historical Park. Access ramps to the Schuylkill Trail, located at Market and Chestnut Streets, make it easily accessible for bikes, roller blades, strollers, and wheelchairs. The trail can also be accessed at Race, Walnut, and Locust Streets in Center City.
