My son calls the Bathhouse Theater his second home. He has attended several Seattle Public Theater drama camps with different directors and they have all been amazing. Shana Bestock and her team work sheer magic. They are brilliant and have utter respect for the kids. There is amazing bonding and mentoring that takes place among the kids. It is a remarkable community of young actors, and a fantastic place for kids to find their voice. I heartily recommend it!

My daughter has attended many Seattle Public Theater (SPT) drama camps over the past 4 years. Each one has been unique and thoroughly wonderful. She's made many friends and has gained confidence and poise not just on the stage but in all areas of her life. We are deeply grateful to the staff and volunteers at SPT - it is a true community theater.

My daughter tried out various theater programs in the Seattle area, but did not find her true home until she came to Seattle Public Theater. Shana Bestock has not only taught my daughter a lot about the art of theater (direction, technical considerations, as well as acting), she has also passed on some of her considerable teamwork and confidence building skills. She has also imbued my daughter with a lifelong love of theater which will always enhance her life whether it be as a participant or an audience member. Participating in Seattle Public Theater's programs has been a lot of fun for my daughter while at the same time instilling a work ethic - it's almost subversive!

My daughter, 15, started at Seattle Public Theater last summer and I have barely been able to drag her away since! Not only has she enjoyed acting and seeing plays here, she has made some great friends. I could not recommend the Seattle Public Theater's youth program more highly!

I finally found SPT's wonderful drama offerings after 2 years of searching out a good camp for my now 13 yo. We've been in many local camps but none were quite right. Last summer, we wandered into the BathHouse at Greenlake and watched a student performance (free or donation). We were so excited and impressed that we enrolled immediately for the next class. Even my younger child who had never expressed an interest in drama was engaged! I strongly recommend taking the kids to see a student performance so they know what to expect. (We now take friends to productions as a birthday gift!) The education director understands young people and how to work with/encourage/motivate them. A very positive enviroment. And my child has made some strong friendships with the other young actors. We've had 2 classes and seen many, many productions. If your child wants to act, learn drama skills and you would like them to come away with improved responsibility and self-esteem then SPT is a great experience you don't want to miss.

...... was with the Bathhouse summer drama camp program last year. Taming of the Shrew ... yes Shakespeare ! How could that possibly work for kids 8 - 14 you might ask. The answer was brilliantly. Excellent direction, excellent "teacher", fun and engaging. They did not learn just what Shakespeare can be all about, but my son met friends that have lasted until this year. It was an experience that he has remembered and has taken him back to each and every vacation camp at this location since. It is excellent value for money, is fun, and a "real" theatre and performing stage experience is offered to all these kids. The performances are professional and of a very impressive quality and standard. Terrific. I highly recommend it for all would be actors out there.

Seattle Public Theater has a series of drama camps for kids, aged 5+. We have attended two. The first, was age approriate and had two experienced teachers. It was super engaging, fun and memerable for my children. The second camp was the complete opposite; It was with a very new and unengaging, super controlling, teacher who had one teenage assistant sitting on the sideline(20+ kids!) It was unengaging, unempressive and very dull for all students who reveiwed it. The 5-7 year-old students sat and practiced a single play in a hot room for an entire session. So - Make sure you get an instructor with experience teaching children.
